PROGRAMS AT BHODHI
AT BHODHI WE NURTURE A SENSE OF DISCOVERY, JOY, AND WONDER IN EVERY CHILD.
We guide them on this road to discovery with our research-based curriculum and carefully crafted, age-appropriate programs.
Our educational philosophy
Preschool is a wonderful stage of development as children move beyond a self-focused toddler stage and develop a keenness to explore their world and extend their social group.
Our aim is to prepare children for school who are capable, confident and sensitive to others and respectful to adults.
The children going on to kindergarten will know many academic concepts and have developed excellent skills, but more importantly, they will have developed a confident and enthusiastic approach to learning!
As dedicated Early Childhood Professionals, we regard children as unique individuals who learn and develop skills through exploration, creativity and investigation.
We support their learning through providing a developmentally appropriate program that caters for individual needs and is implemented within an encouraging, warm and safe environment. We communicate the program through a regular wall displays, and it is centred around your children, their interests and their level of development.
This program is designed to foster and develop:
feelings of self-worth and high self-esteem
positive attitudes towards learning
caring attitudes towards other people and the environment
language and communication skills
skills and knowledge in all key areas of children's development.
Optimal development of young children is promoted through a rich variety of firsthand experiences, focusing on six key areas of children's development:
Cognitive
Social
Emotional
Language
Fine Motor/Gross Motor
Creative
The way we organise the environment, select toys and materials, plan the daily routine and talk with the children, are all designed to give your child a successful start in school.
Above all, we are committed to provide consistently high-quality care and education, whilst promoting a partnership with all families, through encouraging family involvement. And we recognise that you are entrusting to our care your most precious gift, your child.
Our Values & Culture
Children Centric
When the focus moves from the 'what' to 'who', the shift in how education is designed, delivered and experienced transforms. Individual passions and talents trump archaic templates.
Curiosity & Creation
Learning becomes organic when the pursuit of curiosity is encouraged and facilitated. When facilitators nurture learners to construct their learning, creativity is but a natural consequence.
The BHODHI as a Family
By erasing formalities and archaic borders, we cultivate genuine relationships that are based on trust, mutual respect and an intrinsic affection that is palpable among everyone.
Positive Social Action
Socially-conscious and environmentally-responsible in the way we teach, function and live. We believe we are agents of positive change in our community and world.
THE BHODHI SCHOOL PILLARS
Diversity & Differences - Without Hierarchy
We encourage diversity among our faculty and community by:
Cherishing and respecting differences
Not propagating hierarchy
Appreciating and looking for different perspectives
Fair and reasonable communication and flexibility expected.
Self Management
If we manage each other, we manage the world – if everyone is at peace, the world is at peace
Manage our Body / Mind / Emotions & Life
Understand that we are responsible for our life and not the external environment
Working Together
Understand & accommodate differences in people
Understand that no human is an island
In collaboration or group work, the final total is greater than the sum of the individual parts
Collaborate don't compete
Identify Individual Strengths and Talents
In an uncertain environment fear makes us walk half stride, we need confidence to overcome that fear
When we know our strengths and build on it - we have the confidence to overcome our fear and walk full stride irrespective of what the external environment is Real World Applications of 'What We Learn'
How what we learn is applied in Real World Context.
What We Learn
We 'retain what we look for and acquire' as against being 'taught'.
